(420) NEO6860, a novel modality selective TRPV1 antagonist: results from a phase I, double-blind, placebo-controlled study in healthy subjects.

Introduction Transient Receptor Potential Vanilloid subtype 1 or TRPV1 is a peripheral pain target, localized in human sensory neurons, both at the peripheral terminals and in neuronal fibres that carry noxious information up through layer I-II in the dorsal horn of the spinal cord. Several TRPV1 antagonists have been tested in humans. Two specific adverse events, hyperthermia (Gavva 2008) and impaired noxious heat sensation (Rowbotham 2011) have been observed in humans, leading to the termination of most of these programs.
